Success will be measured on cost to serve, order performance, and working capital performance. Director is responsible for sourcing direct and indirect materials, strategic alliance partnerships, vendor risk management and assessment, supply planning, master production scheduling, distribution, transportation and inventory. Director is responsible for leading an environment that utilizes best practices for inventory planning, control, sourcing, scheduling and supply planning. Additional responsibilities include participating as a key member of the Leadership Team in the development, communication and delivery of the strategic business plan. RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE <ul><li> Directs and coordinates the day-to-day and long-term strategic activities of the supply chain team to ensure timely planning and procurement of goods and services to meet business demand. </li><li> Evaluates the internal performance for all aspects of supply chain and drives continuous improvement of supply system operations with effective leadership. </li><li> Develops and implements planning and procurement systems, including policies and procedures that drive a rigorous supplier selection process, supplier development, performance and establishes timely supplier evaluation and feedback to ensure continuous improvement throughout the supply chain. </li><li> Develops and manages all Key Performance Indicators related to supply chain performance. </li><li> Ensures supplier competition is balanced and fair, ensuring the best price, delivery and quality while reducing overall supply chain costs and risks to the organization. </li><li> Conducts at least annual in-person Vendor Summits. Identifies, recommends, and implements key new suppliers. Performs new and existing supplier technical evaluations, conducts ongoing supplier audits, and leads the negotiation/restructuring process of current and future business relationships. </li><li> Prepares and shares reports for Leadership regarding supplier performance, and merchandise costs. Develops metrics for assessing and reporting program and/or commodity progress, productivity and variance analysis. </li><li> Partners with key stakeholders, including Manufacturing, Engineering, Sales and Marketing. Drives continuous improvement to ensure on-time, complete, and compliant deliveries to our customers. </li><li> Ensures suppliers are aligned with technical and commercial requirements by working closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production. </li><li> Ensures supply chain is engaged to support customer orders, creates and/or maintains optimum lead times and inventory levels while anticipating risks and issues in the supply chain. </li><li> Determines material and merchandise cost trends, then formulates and coordinates policies and activities to maintain appropriate margins. </li><li> Prepares and reviews requisitions and purchase orders for direct materials and equipment. </li><li> Analyzes market conditions/trends, geopolitical conditions, and delivery systems to determine present and future material availability, and mitigate risks. </li><li> Understands key production processes to better support the organization. </li></ul><ul><li> Manage TMS provider relationship to ensure adherence to contract and continual cost reduction. Duties/Responsibilities&nbsp; <ul><li>Receive and transport all incoming mail from the U.S.P.S. </li><li>Receive and check in freight and packages into campus tracking/delivery system(s). </li><li>Manually sort and case or consign all campus incoming mail and shipments to the appropriate college or department mailroom location. </li><li>Deliver sorted mail to mailrooms and obtain electronic signature of delivery for all packages and freight. </li><li>Collect outgoing mail and shipments from college or department mailrooms. </li><li>Assist Mailroom Technician with preparation and processing of campus bulk mailings. Assist Warehouse Technician with acceptance and delivery of packages, freight and other deliverables. </li><li>Determine the correct mail class / processing category for all outgoing mail and packages. Affix correct postage, complete correct documents and include correct markings on all outbound shipments. </li><li>Interpret customer delivery service needs for outgoing packages or freight shipments and finalize shipments through campus outbound freight shipping system(s). Review all outgoing mail and shipments to: • ensure valid departmental account numbers are indicated for each shipment. • ensure mail or packages paid by University are for business purposes. • ensure addressing information meets USPS standards and is a deliverable address. </li><li>Perform campus delivery of products produced by University Creative and Print department. </li><li>Fulfill, deliver and maintain inventory of copy paper orders for fleet copy equipment. </li><li>Fulfill and deliver custodial supply orders to custodial supply closets. </li><li>Collect recycled print cartridges. </li><li>Complete and document inspection of campus fire extinguisher equipment. Coordinate repair or replacement of equipment. </li><li>Generate reports documenting outbound mail, postage spends, and the quantity of inbound and outbound package and freight shipments. </li><li>Support light maintenance of mailing, delivery equipment and vehicles utilized by Distribution Services. </li><li>Inspect receivables for damage and maintain a secure work environment in order to promote security of the campus mail system. Maintain clean and organized warehouse, mailroom and work areas.</li></ul> Required Knowledge and Skills <ul><li>High school diploma or GED required. </li><li>Experience working with inventory or delivery handling systems. </li><li>Excellent customer service skills are required to facilitate communication and interaction with all staff, faculty and administrative personnel in all departments and colleges. </li><li>Working knowledge of computers, internet, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and email required. </li><li>Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to operate campus fleet vehicles. Must have, or be able to obtain, fork lift and electric pallet jack certification.</li></ul> Preferred Knowledge and Skills <ul><li>One year of mailroom or delivery experience preferred. </li><li>Experience working with mail processing equipment; including but not limited to postage meter, offline mailer and folder / inserter is preferred.</li></ul> Regular Work Hours/Travel Requirements <ul><li>Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.</li><li>Irregular hours and overtime may be required, including times when the University is closed.</li><li>Frequent travel within the local area (15 miles) required.</li></ul> About USI&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; The University of Southern Indiana is a public higher education institution located on a beautiful&nbsp;1,400-acre campus in Evansville, IN.
