Complexity &amp; Creativity: 
This position requires quite a lot of analytical, technical and creative thinking. One must have a good working knowledge of OSHA and TOSHA safety regulations, EPA and TDEC environmental regulations, NFPA and NEC fire safety and electrical regulations, some building code regulations such as placement of fire sprinklers, elevator regulations, and construction safety. Excellent observation skills are required to determine compliance with these regulations. The ability to plan for and manage resources and funds related to the position.
A fundamental knowledge of physics, chemistry, biology, physiology, statistics, mathematics, computers, engineering mechanics, and industrial processes as they relate to the Environmental, Health and Safety position.
Ability to track safety metrics (see 4a) and regular reporting and interpreting of metrics to management for awareness and decision making; Ability to write reports, track data, develop and deliver high-quality presentations, communicate via email, keep track of tasks, appointments, and contacts using a personal computer.

Magnitude of Impact: Errors in the EH&amp;S position can impact departments all the way up to the president. Mishandling of hazardous waste can impact the environment, incur fines, and bring bad publicity to the college. Accident and injuries can cause harm, result in lost time, and have a heavy financial impact.
Responsibility for Accuracy: OSHA log errors, Workers’ Compensation reporting errors, and clerical errors in emails, reports and presentations. Most errors should be caught by review of the employee. Frequency of verification should be at least monthly. Errors could result in violations and fines by regulatory agencies. These types of errors are not very likely and would have a minimal effect of the performance of the position. I recommend that the school institute a system of checks and balances to verify data on a regular basis. This position should help develop that system.
Financial Impact: This position is directly responsible for loss of material and financial assets through damage caused by neglected testing and training of emergency or safety equipment; loss of financial assets due to fines and penalties imposed by regulatory agencies due to noncompliance, loss of financial assets due to litigation pertaining to safety related incidents.
Budgetary: To assist in planning a budget for safety and environmental-related purchases. This position does not have signing responsibility, but must have a good understanding of the purchasing process. Nature of Contacts: Contractors (waste, fire alarm and sprinkler, building security systems, electrical, housekeeping, environmental monitoring and abatement, equipment inspection and repair); vendors (safety supplies, software); colleagues at other schools and other businesses. When attending events, it helps to network with others in similar positions so as to help each other.
Physical Demands: The ability to walk, climb stairs, climb ladders, stand in one spot for a period of time to observe practices, sit for long periods, drive for long periods, travel out of town as needed. Manual dexterity is required to use a keyboard, to write, to turn pages, to work with equipment, to handle small items, to open and close doors. Lifting is usually minimal, but the ability to lift up to 50 pounds could be required.
During training there are questions, during audits there are observations which may require the ability to hear words, and/or equipment noises; some training may be computer-based. A reasonable accommodation could be made for someone with limited or no hearing.

Description Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Environmental Regulatory Compliance Professional to work in our Environmental Support &amp; Services department. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our MFC facility with every Friday off. You will support facilities, operations and R&amp;D programs in the identification and implementation of environmental requirements to ensure compliance with applicable rules which may include support of regulatory interpretations, resolution of potential or actual compliance issues, identification of required permits, and gathering and reporting of data that must be collected and reported by regulation. You will report to the manager for Environmental Support &amp; Services department. Responsibilities Include: <ul><li>Identify environmental and associated radiological requirements to ensure compliance with DOE Orders, Federal and State regulations, and various standards (i.e., ANSI, ISO 14001, NESHAP, DOE Directives, Guides, and Handbooks).</li><li>Develop and implement environmental procedures to ensure INL work scope is compliant. This includes development of highly complex regulatory interpretations and resolution of potential or actual compliance issues, with legal representatives. Also, may include development of permits; gather data, calculating, and coordinating with other site contractors for the site-wide reporting to stakeholders and regulatory authorities.</li><li>Gain expertise of all existing regulations in assigned area of technical competence and actively monitor for proposed changes in federal, state, and local environmental regulations which may include RCRA, CERCLA, NEPA, EPCRA, CAA, CWA, NHPA, SDWA, TSCA, and radioactive waste management.</li><li>Present to and partner with Federal and State regulators and ISO-14001 auditors for all environmental inspections and respond to identified areas of concerns or non-compliances.</li><li>Assess environmental risk and develop required risk-mitigation strategies.</li><li>Monitor and evaluate implementation of environmental requirements using assessments and surveillance.</li><li>Help develop short and long-term plans to achieve annual goals and work standards focused on achieving INL’s mission and assigned priorities.</li><li>May assess environmental risk and develop required regulatory documentation.</li><li>May perform oversight and help implement laboratory environmental requirements, permits, agreements, and corrective actions.</li><li>May support customers by preparing or reviewing National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation.</li></ul>Qualifications Minimum Requirements:&nbsp; <ul><li>Level 1: Bachelor of Science degree in a science or engineering field.</li><li>Level 2: Bachelor of Science degree in a science or engineering field, and 2 years of relevant experience or a Master’s and 0 years of experience.</li><li>This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.&nbsp;</li></ul> Job Information:&nbsp; <ul><li>The pay range for this position is: Level 1 ($63,528 - $130,284) / Level 2 ($75,804 - $155,496).
