Job Summary

Candidate will be responsible for:
  • Assist in administrative tasks related to building and maintaining professional relationships with small businesses throughout Lexington and Covington.
  • Coordinate intake sessions tailored for entrepreneurs, with a primary focus on the development and strategic planning of business expansion or startup.
  • Facilitate logistical aspects of training workshops, including scheduling, materials preparation, and participant coordination.
  • Support the development and implementation of fundraising strategies for center events, specifically centered around showcasing small businesses.
  • Provide administrative support to ensure a smooth process for coaching entrepreneurs through business launch and growth phases.
  • Assist in scheduling and organizing business coaches, managing communication, and tracking follow-up actions.
  • Manage administrative aspects of connecting clients to key resources, including maintaining relevant contact information and documentation.
  • Support in organizing and coordinating sessions aimed at helping entrepreneurs develop various business aspects.
  • Assist in administrative tasks related to market research and competitive analysis, including data collection and organization.
  • Coordinate administrative aspects of collaboration with partners, chambers of commerce, local economic development agencies, and lenders.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversee the intake process, ensuring a seamless experience for Kentucky SBDC clients.
  • Actively monitor a PC-based CRM system, maintaining activities, inquiries, and client engagement.
  • Handle incoming center communications, responding promptly, and direct messages to appropriate personnel or resources.
  • Drive marketing efforts for center events, creating content and organizing promotional activities.
  • Coordinate under the direction of the Center Director, all training workshops, handling tasks such as scheduling, preparing materials, and organizing participants for regular sessions and larger events.
  • Participate in meetings and events of small businesses in the areas served.
  • Maintain current records of client firms, proposals, and project status using a PC-based CRM system.



Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and the ability to learn new technology essential to work with entrepreneurs in a virtual setting.
  • Demonstrated understanding of how entrepreneurship and related activities serve to strengthen and grow Kentucky’s economy.
  • Must be a highly motivated self-starter who works well in an independent setting
  • Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems
  • Ability to manage projects effectively
  • Ability to travel and have a valid driver’s license


REQUIREMENTS:
  • High level of proficiency in technology, including comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Adept at utilizing various tools and platforms for administrative tasks and event coordination.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt to and learn new technologies essential for the role.
  • Comfortable navigating and utilizing emerging tools to enhance administrative efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in event planning, with a proven track record of successfully coordinating various types of events, from small sessions to larger gatherings.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with direct experience in entrepreneurship or in roles related to economic development showcasing a deep understanding of the economic landscape.
