Global laboratory leader position responsible for driving proactive change and positive influence across the entire company in order to provide a 21st century client experience to attract, retain and grow clients. Leads, directs, coordinates and facilitates laboratory data acquisition and process automation initiatives on a global basis across C&I Shared, Vertical, Consumer Labs, and labs in UL's acquisitions. Works with regional, and local lab managers to identify, coordinate and drive laboratory automation projects to improve speed, efficiency, quality and performance. Utilizes direct reporting resources in collaboration with operational and IT resources. Partners with Engineering and Lab Management across Business Units and Divisions to maximize automation benefits, customer satisfaction, business results and quality.


  • Responsible for collaborating with global laboratory leadership and operations
  • Identify, propose, prioritize and manage laboratory automation initiatives involving software, hardware and testing processes.
  • Develops and maintains an enterprise wide Lab Automation Strategy with collaboration with other labs. Identifies best practices and leverages resources across the enterprise to drive improvement and implementation.
  • Works to reduce complexity of variable testing methods to increase automation and efficiency to drive greater customer satisfaction.
  • Responsible for coordinating across global laboratory operation locations to ensure any initiatives are adopted by the intended operations, and will drive increasing consistency and standardization of equipment and processes.
  • Responsible for coordinating laboratory automation products and systems with the global management system and core enterprise operations systems.
  • Develops and recommends division and space utilization plans and budgets and reviews organization and staffing plans to achieve corporately established division objectives.
  • Establishes and maintains good communications between peers and other Regional Lab Directors to facilitate achievement of operational goals.
  • Manages the performance of direct reports by defining accountabilities, establishing performance objectives, providing feedback and guidance, and ensuring that all policies are understood and adhered to.
  • Performs other duties as directed.


  • Bachelor's degree (Business Administration, Management, Engineering or related field).
  • 12 years of Engineering related experience including at least eight years management/leadership (preferably in a Laboratory environment).
  • Excellent communciation and organization Skills
  • Strong relationship building
  • Aurora or LABview experience is a plus
  • Team oriented
