Job Description:

1) Performs various basic level technical duties in the Multimedia Support Center. Confers with Technician II or other skilled technician to resolve difficult technical problems.

2) Provides technical support to end users and staff.

3) Tests and trouble shoots technical equipment. Performs general repairs to technical equipment, and identifies need for major repairs for referral to skilled repair technicians.

4) Participates with the Multimedia Support Team in forecasting IT trends in technology through research, industry publications, and networking.

5) Performs A/V equipment set-ups and strikes in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring that equipment is correctly configured and operating properly for the event.

6) Produce and create graphics and visual or audio images for product illustrations, logos, and websites.

7) Provide user-centered design expertise from concept to delivery.

8) Keeps accurate records. Completes and maintains required documentation including activity logs, inventory tracking forms and work orders.

9) Is a presence in the multimedia lab, providing audio/video assistance to students,faculty and staff. Learns and understands the basics of the software offered in the lab to best help students.

10) Performs technical support, recording, editing and distribution of media content to support campus initiatives.

11) Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and predictable attendance.

12) Performs other related duties as required.

Usual Physical Demands: The incumbent of this position typically exhibits the physical demands identified in the Functional Job Analysis on file in the College's Human Resources Department and which is periodically reviewed and updated. While performing duties of this job, the employee regularly exhibits digital dexterity when entering data into computer. The employee regularly sits for extended periods of time, and occasionally stands and walks and uses hands to hold and control equipment and tools. The employee regularly reaches with hands and arms, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches or crawls. Employee regularly converses with others in person. Vision demands include close, relatively detailed vision when focusing on a computer screen. Employee lifts or exerts force of varying weight of up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions: Normal office working conditions. Employee is occasionally exposed to dirt, dust, debris, smells and outdoor weather conditions when moving or installing equipment. Employee is occasionally exposed to minor cuts, burns or other incapacitating injury and risk of electrical shock. Employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of: media technical services; personal computer hardware and software including image scanning and processing software; audio-visual presentation equipment. Ability to: complete tasks independently without close supervision; exhibit creativity in performing basic graphic design support tasks; develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, patrons and general public; exhibit attention to detail. Skill in: operation of computer; application and integration of computer software; document formatting, layout and design; effective communication skills with all levels of organization; project management leadership; application of technical skills in area of specialization; customer service.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate's Degree in a technical field of study closely related to the function of the position with at least one year experience in a closely related technical field. State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).

Preferred Qualifications: Excellent interpersonal skills to support work with both technical and nontechnical personnel and students at all levels throughout the organization. Working and operational knowledge of all AV equipment commonly used for presentation support, including consumer and professional electronics. Includes, but is not limited to: Computers (Windows and Mac operating systems) TVs, monitors, DVD & BluRay players, Digital audio recorders, video cameras, and mixing consoles. Experience using Adobe Creative Suite (i.e. Illustrator, Photoshop, Dreamweaver).
