This position has the responsibility of ensuring that the buildings & equipment owned by the college is in good operating condition. Travel from the Dyersburg main campus to other centers and service area locations in west Tennessee will be required as directed. Lead team members by sharing knowledge and helping each other complete task effectively and in a respectful manner.  

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain HVAC equipment and heating systems.
  • Maintain and make additions to the electrical system as required.
  • Maintain and make additions to the plumbing systems as required.
  • Inspect equipment for signs of malfunctions, including visual and sound inspections.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and service.
  • Complete written record of work performed using IssueTrak software.
  • Use a variety of power and hand tools to perform job functions.
  • Keep current of all events & activities being conducted in all areas of physical plant.
  • Maintain & operate heating and cooling controls using Trane and Delta energy management software.
  • Maintain certification in the dispensing of CFC and HCFC refrigerants to comply with E.P.A. regulations.
  • Install and repair electrical outlets, lighting fixtures, timers, motor controls, and electric motors.
  • Repair house keeping tools such as vacuum cleaners, buffers, etc.
  • Repair electronic equipment such as circuit boards, battery chargers, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

Exertive: Significant exertion on a daily basis.  Awkward postures and work positions: sustained postures and work positions; sustained activities require strength.  Frequent lifting (30 – 50 lbs.). Some walking, pushing, pulling on a regular basis.  Moderate exposure to dust, grease, noise, inclement weather, temperature extremes, and unpleasant but not hazardous odors.  Occasional exposure to risk controlled by safety precautions.  Frequency or severity is limited.

Required Qualifications:

CDL license preferred.

Electrical license preferred.

HVAC certified. 

Knowledge and experience using energy management systems.

Attention to detail.

Must understand chiller plant operations.

Minimum Requirements of Education and Experience:           

High school/GED.

Valid Tennessee Driver’s License.

Minimum of three years’ experience with HVAC and EPA regulations.

Successful trade or vocational school completion preferred.

Three years’ experience in two or more of the building trades.

Enthusiastic and engaged mindset to get jobs done.

Minimum starting salary is $34,400 annually ($17.65 per hour). With additional experience pay increases to a maximum of $41,300.
