Job Description and Requirements
Under general supervision, the IT System Administrator is responsible for server administration of line of business servers and core functional IT servers; assists Desktop Support with software and hardware requirements; monitors, maintains, and upgrades server OS systems; performs patching and vulnerability remediation via automation tools and manual configurations; responds to after-hour calls; and performs related duties as required.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Configure, install, and maintain line of business servers and core functional IT servers.
- Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation (generally a full week of on call, scheduled once every 3-4 weeks) and occasionally requires unplanned after hours support for emergency or planned project work.
- Assist with maintaining Microsoft, VMware, and Citrix technologies such as Active Directory, DNS, Group Policies, VM server creation and decommissioning, Citrix VDI administration.
- Serve as initial third-tier support for desktop support team and service desk troubleshooting application performance issues or OS server issues.
- Actively respond to monitored server alerts, tuning server configuration as necessary to remediate alerts.
- Test and evaluate hardware and software for efficiency and compatibility with existing systems.
- Perform security updates and patches on server and PC OS on a monthly basis. Remediation of missing security updates as reported by Information Security and vulnerability management system.
- Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and to establish/maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, employees and the general public.

Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum of one year server support experience
Skills and Certification/Licensing:
- Experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2008, 2012, 2016, 2019 and Windows 10 PC OS
- Experience with VMware virtualization technologies and principles
- Some experience with Citrix VDI technologies and principles
- Some experience with storage area network technologies
- Some experience with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and group policy concepts
- Working knowledge of IT Security vulnerability management best practices
- Basic understanding of networking concepts
