Job Summary

The Genetic Counseling Assistant (GCA) provides specialized support to the genetic counselors. The GCA is an integral part of the Genetics team and contributes to the management of diverse aspects of the service, including the coordination of care for patients, optimization of clinic and operational workflows, and working collaboratively with the team to create a patient-centered and administratively effective environment. The GCA has essential roles to assist the genetics department including attain family histories, triaging referrals, collection of relevant medical records, collection of previous genetic testing records when appropriate, coordination of care with testing laboratories, coordination of patient care when multiple physician or clinical departments are involved, and assisting with administrative duties of the department.
