Job Summary

This is a full-time, term academic year faculty appointment in the Department of Nursing. The faculty member is responsible for planning, evaluating, and revising curricula, course content, and course materials. The faculty member teaches full-time classroom and clinical instruction for Associate's degree nursing students; assesses clinical education needs, utilizing a variety of methods. This position reports to the Department Chair of Nursing.

Job Duties

  • Participates as a teacher in the Nursing educational program as assigned by the Department Chair.
  • Maintains office hours, and attends and participates in meetings and committee work.
  • Exhibits a high level of collegiality and professionalism.
  • Participates in recruiting/retention efforts of the college and department and in community activities.
  • Participates in student advising and utilizes all resources within the college for the guidance of students.
  • Performs all required activities as listed on the College's Faculty Development form (FDP) and faculty evaluation forms (FEP).
  • Maintains accurate student attendance records, grades, and other required records in compliance with federal FERPA regulations.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Nursing or higher from a nationally accredited institution.
  • Active, unencumbered Tennessee or compact state RN License.
  • Minimum three (3) years of clinical experience.
  • Must possess current CPR certification.
  • Experience with educational technology is required.
  • Preference is given to applicants with teaching experience in an Associate's degree in Nursing Programs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of current teaching and learning strategies to facilitate student-centered learning; experience interacting successfully with an ever-growing student population.
  • Knowledge of NLNAC accreditation process.
  • Knowledge of nursing curriculum design.
  • Knowledge of test construction,
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of nursing theory.
