Description

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Drafter to work in our Nuclear Science and Technology (NS&T) Drafting department. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Research Education Campus with every other Friday off.

Responsibilities Include:

You plan, lay out, prepare, and revise engineering drawings manually or by using computer-aided design equipment in one or more areas of specialization, e.g., architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, or electrical drafting working from notes, sketches, or general instruction.

  • Prepare complex new drawings and perform drawing changes consistent with company and nationally recognized procedures and standards. This will include 2D line work and 3D modeling.
  • Help determine drawing elements i.e., dimensions, part/component selection, tolerance, and design and process parameters. Evaluate design input from project engineers working with design engineers.
  • Make required mathematical calculations (i.e., geometric, tolerance stack up calculations).
  • Work with engineers, technicians, operations personnel, project managers, and other drafters to complete design drawings to customer's requirements.
  • Work in complex multi-discipline teams to perform definitive design and drafting.
  • May contribute design modification ideas to improve the quality of the product or facilitate
  • construction/fabrication.
  • Provide field support during fabrication, construction, and start-up.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of CREO, AutoCAD, Revit, INVENTOR and other modeling software.
  • Occasionally collaborate with professionals outside of home organization.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Associates Degree or Technical certificate in drafting or equivalent. 
  • Knowledge of and experience using nationally recognized standards (e.g. ANSI, ASME, MIL-STD)
  • Experience in the current versions of Inventor and AutoCAD graphics software.
  • Must have knowledge of Vault file management software.
  • Knowledgeable in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5


Preferred

  • Knowledge of Inventor 3D
  • Experience in 3D modeling software may be acceptable (ie-SolidWorks or CREO). Knowledge with the use of Autodesk Vault (or Solidworks PDM or Windchill) and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).


Job Information: 

  • The pay range for this position is: Level #1 ($21.90/hour-$36.13/hour) / Level 2 ($25.18/hour - $41.54/hour). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
