Required Related Experience

Knowledge of psychological practices in a variety of clinical, teaching, and research environments, as well as a demonstrated ability in teaching students at all levels in an academic environment.
Previous experience providing psychological testing services through evidence-based psychological testing and also previous experience providing evidence-based psychotherapy services. Qualified candidates will have demonstrated experience collaborating with physicians in diagnosing and treating patients with mental health conditions. Experience in supervising other clinicians and serving in a leadership capacity is essential for this position.



Required License/Registration/Certification

Current licensure (Ph.D. or LPP, ), or eligibility to obtain independent licensure and/or industry-standard board certification in the field of psychological testing, psychotherapy or related services to practice in the state of Kentucky.



Job Summary

The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine is seeking to fill an Assistant Professor faculty position to primarily provide psychological testing to patients in an ambulatory setting with the potential to also provide psychotherapy services. The successful candidate must be committed to excellence in clinical care providing psychological testing services and psychotherapy to adults or children and adolescents.

The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine strives to provide the highest level of patient care, innovative educational programs, active research in mental illness and advocacy throughout the state of Kentucky and beyond. These pursuits have helped the department win the American College of Psychiatrists’ Award for Creativity in Psychiatric Education not once, but twice. The Department employs physicians, psychologists, therapists and other mental health professionals to provide a wide variety of behavioral health and substance use treatment services at multiple locations. Our clinicians provide care at our UK Psychiatric & Behavioral Health Care Clinic at Fountain Court – Lexington, KY, Albert B. Chandler Hospital – Lexington, KY, Good Samaritan Hospital – Lexington, KY, Eastern State Hospital – Lexington, KY as well as various other clinics and departments throughout the UK HealthCare system and outside organizations throughout Kentucky. Our team of researchers are working to advance the understanding of behavioral health and how behavioral health conditions are managed and treated. Our department has five ACGME-certified residency training programs which focus on training more than 50 physicians each year to become the future leaders in psychiatry.



The Department of Psychiatry’s ambulatory clinic is located near the Hamburg area of Lexington at 245 Fountain Ct., Lexington, KY, 40509. This off-campus location provides free onsite parking for employees and patients as well as a primary care/urgent care clinic and retail pharmacy that is accessible for both patients and employees.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Demonstrated ability to relate and communicate with internal and external faculty, staff, and other clients of the department. Demonstrated experience providing psychological testing and psychotherapy services to adults, children and adolescents in an outpatient setting using evidence-based treatments.

Preferred Education/Experience

Master’s degree plus 5 years of experience required and terminal degree preferred such as Ph.D. is Psychology



Evidence of high level of clinical and training/teaching competence in psychological testing and psychotherapy. Previous experience in providing psychiatric services such as psychological testing and/or psychotherapy, and serving as a clinician educator is preferred.



Demonstrated ability in teaching students at all levels in an academic environment at the graduate or post graduate level.
